Alan Hall is also a founder and managing director of Mercato Partners, a top performing growth equity venture capital fund. Its focus is to invest in high growth technology companies that need additional funding and expertise in marketing and sales. Current portfolio companies include: Skullcandy, Fusion---io, Control4, Cymphonix, Mediconnect, CradlePoint and Stance.
Mr. Hall is also the founder, chairman and former CEO of MarketStar Corporation, a global outsourced marketing and sales company with a focus on assisting high technology companies increase sales through the small to medium business sectors. The company employs several thousand employees and generates billions of dollars in sales for its marquee clientele, including Hewlett---Packard, Cisco, Sony, Intel and Verizon. MarketStar is owned by Omnicom Group (OMC).
Alan Hall is the chairman of Weber State University's board of trustees and the chairman of the University's capital campaign committee, a trustee of the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation, chairman of Ogden Pioneer Heritage Foundation and chairman of Prosperity 2020, a business-led movement committed to enhancing Utah's educational system through investment and innovation.
He is an Ernst and Young and Mountain West Capital Network Entrepreneur of the Year recipient.
He is also an author, newspaper columnist and frequent public speaker.
He and his wife Jeanne are the chairman and president of the Hall Foundation. The mission of the foundation is that "there be no poor among us." Alan and Jeanne Hall are the parents of six married children and sixteen grandchildren.
Dave Norton - Investment Fund Manager
Dr. David Norton has 43 years of industrial experience in high-tech companies. His industrial career began with IBM and after 16 years he left to become a co-founder of IOMEGA. He then founded and served as Director of Utah Research Institute, a division of Utah State University Research Foundation. Dr. Norton then became a co-founder of Automated Solutions (currently iArchives) where he was CEO and Vice President of Research and Development. Following this he returned as President and CEO of Utah State University Research Foundation, which engages in federal contracts and the University's Technology commercialization. Currently, Dr. Norton is working with Island Park Investments.
Dr. Norton has been involved with entrepreneurial ventures for the past 33 years. He has served as a technical and business advisor, as a member of Advisory Boards, on the Board of Directors, or as a co-founder. He served on and as Chairman for several Boards of both for-profit and non-profit corporations.
Dr. Norton received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University. He also received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with emphasis on applied mechanics and optics, from the University of Colorado. He has had five patents and ten technical disclosures published in the IBM Technical Disclosures Bulletin.
Dr. Norton is married to RoJean Reeves Norton. They have four children with spouses and sixteen grandchildren.
Debbie Wade - Research Analyst
Debbie Wade is a research consultant with 22 years of experience in assessing the viability and feasibility of delivering new products and service offerings, identifying successful branding and messaging strategies, conducting market evaluations and doing competitive assessments.
She is currently the president of Market Insights, a research consulting firm which she founded in 2000. From 1996-2000, she served as the Research Director for Marketstar Corporation; from 1992-1996 she served as the Research Manager for Medicode, now InGenix; and prior to 1992 worked as a research analyst for WordPerfect Publishing.
Debbie graduated with her BA in Communications with an emphasis in Marketing Research from BYU and earned an MBA from Regis University. She is a trained focus group moderator and has been an affiliate professor at Regis University since 2005, teaching research methodology and strategic marketing to MBA students.
Erin Housley - Operational Manager
Erin has fifteen years of operational experience in high-tech companies and is the Operations Manager for Island Park Investments. Prior to joining Island Park, Mrs. Housley supported MarketStar’s executive staff through strategic plan implementation, project management, corporate development and employee development.
She has served on the Board of Directors for several non-profits and was awarded the YCC’s (Your Community Connection) Founders Award for her fundraising efforts supporting the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Mrs. Housley is an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and is a proud supporter of Autism Speaks and the Special Olympics.
She and her husband live in Perry, UT and are the parents of two boys.
